Disfusional Studios - Maghda (Diablo 3) Skirt Designs: Part 1
For every project I take on, I make sure to do sketch break-downs. This helps me with design issues/problem solving issues. Due to there being multiple skirts for ‘my’ Maghda
Design, I wanted to quickly sketch them out and make sure that I can work true to my vision!
The design process is underway. There were pieces of both the in-game model, as well as the original concept art, I wanted to incorporate. Whenever I saw Maghda in Diablo 3, I imagined there being swarms of Moth’s everywhere. That is why I plan on attaching more moths to this dress then I will be able to count. As of right now, I already have over 100+ accounted for!!
The above images have been drawn by myself.
Choice of material(s): Graphite and (off white) Sketch Paper!
These are just a handful of the hundreds of images that will be used to draw inspiration/data from to create my-take on Maghda. You can see that there are two book images, above. The top-left is her traditional in-game reference. The bottom-left is one of her original-concept art designs. There are aspects of each that I would like to make sure I incorporate.
Example: I would like my design to have multiple skirts. The in-game ref. is traditionally depicted with a single-skirt. Also, concept-art has soo much more detail!
I look forward to merging these two designs together, with my own style.

I started playing Diablo III as a release; a break from cosplay. I originally did not plan on tackling any of the pixelated designs within this Blizzard Entertainment realm. However, after large sums of time, I can no longer stand strong against the desire to craft a Diablo III character.
When I started Diablo I created/selected a Monk-class Toon. I had watched a few started videos as well as read up on to the other available classes.
I was quick to get comfortable with the class and as I started to encounter my first NPC/Boss. Her moth-like presence pulled at my desire to bring another villain to life. The idea of created large moths to mount on my shoulders/back - I am all too excited to begin this project!
I hope you look forward to a moth filled next three months. The goal is create a costume that is bigger and better than the last. Also, this costume will be the first cosplay that will need to break-down into a suitcase for travel. We have big plans for 2019 and are excited to start sharing them soon!!
I am excited to share that we will be attending C2E2 2019. I am very excited to visit Chicago for this large pop culture extravaganza! We have never had the opportunity to visit the windy city for a convention; the count down has begun. Tickets are purchased and hotel arrangements are complete. Now it is time to set my focus on what cosplay to make/bring!
The reason for our trip this year is going to be getting a lay of the land. Maghda will be a cosplay that stretches the span of 2019. Our goal is to take her and all her moth’s to C2E2 2020!
During Youmacon (Detroit, MI, USA) 2018 cosplay masquerade contest; I had the opportunity to converse with fellow cosplayers. Only positive things were spoken about C2E2′s cosplay competition.
I have yet to travel outside of my current bubble and am excited to set this was going to be a goal for 2019, but we thought it best to hold off a year. We are not only excited to attend this convention for the first time, we are also looking forward to all the creative motivation seeing other cosplayers brings to my own table. I can not wait to bring Maghda to life. We will be using Tumblr as a means to document our progress in a clean/blogger style.
